The Blog of Cathedral Primary School's Class 3
Tuesley Farm was a wonderful trip for Class 3. We really enjoyed our trip on the coach to the farm. Mary and Robert were so kind to us when we arrived. They showed us around the factory where all the fruit is packaged and distributed to different supermarkets.
We were also driven around the farm in trailers and taught all about how the fruit is picked and how the farm operates.
We had a fantastic time eating lunch in the forest!
Needless to say, we absolutely loved picking blueberries, raspberries and strawberries and learning all about them.
What facts can you remember that you learnt during the trip Class 3? What did you do with the fruit you took home?
What was your favourite part of the trip?
We had a fantastic week during Sports Week! Class 3 enjoyed a skills workshop with a rugby coach, worked on a sports personality powerpoint presentation, podley exploring and a long distance running race. We also ensured to get ourselves Sports Day ready!
Sports Day was a glorious sunny day where we all participated in an obstacle course, strength activities and javelin. Individual races also took place.
An excellent effort from all of Class 3. Well done. You were all Superstars.
Well done Class 3 for showing super acting skills and getting into different roles to help understand character development. We have been learning about Danny (from Danny the Champion of the World), and his feelings during a particular scene. Performing poetry enabled us to understand the rhythmic qualities for the words.
We have had such an exciting week learning all about a new country.
Some of the exciting things we have done, include:
Learning about the Fennec Fox (Algeria’s national animal), writing our own Algerian newspaper reports, creating a Fennec Fox collage, learning the Algerian national anthem and what the words mean, listening to the story ‘The tortoise and the hare’ which was told to us in Greek and English by a parent reader.
We have also learnt about Islam, the religion worshiped by many Algerians. We were very lucky to have artifacts from Algeria that we could discuss and learn about.
Thank you to class 3 for all your energy and enthusiasm in learning about a new country this week. You looked excellent in your international outfits today!
Enjoy your half term, keep shining.
We had a fantastic time with Central School of ballet! We were so lucky to watch two dance workshops of students from the school performing. One of the workshops were students who were about to leave the school and become professional ballerinas.
The teachers were kind in explaining what they were doing with the students. We experienced the strength and flexibility of ballerinas in holding incredible positions.
We were also so lucky to have our own workshop with a professional ballerina leading us, we were taught lots of ballet moves.
We hope you enjoy the pictures.
Class 3, what did you enjoy and learn about, during your day at Central School of Ballet?
Thank you Class 3 for the effort and hard work you put into learning your lines and the song for your assembly. The hard work paid off.
You beautifully shared with the school how the Romans brought Christianity to Britain and also how they have influenced so many aspects of our lives.
You also explained about exciting Class 3 events in newspaper reports – showing off your knowledge of features of newspaper reports.
Well done. I knew you would shine brightly up there!
Class 3 worked hard this week in gymnastics. They first worked in lines, following their leader and using a dice and diagram to guide them on actions and movements. They used the gymnastics apparatus (very exciting!), to support movement and balance and worked in groups to create their own gymnastics ensemble.
Class 3 you showed super independent work during this session. Your use of shape, path, direction and speed were excellent. You included many aspects of gymnastics into your ensembles, showing how much you had learnt in one lesson!
Keep up the wonderful work!
In R.E this week, we discussed what a church means to us and if it is just a building, like other buildings. We added our ideas to post-it notes in groups and shared our views with the class.
We discussed how a church is not only a place for Christian worship, but can bring a community together and is a place for many occasions!
Class 3, share your views on the meaning of a church.
