Class 5 Trip

The London Central Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre

Today we went to this amazing Mosque, near Regent’s Park, and found out more about Islamic worship and the artifacts which can be found inside a Mosque. The girls covered their hair with scarves and we all took off our shoes. We saw prayers taking place and looked at the Arabic calligraphy and Islamic geometric designs which decorated the prayer room.

We thought about the similarities and differences with Southwark Cathedral, a very familiar place of worship for all of us. What can you think of?

These photos are beautiful. It looks like you all had a very thought provoking day. When you see me around school I would be very interested to hear your reflections on the similarities and differences between Southwark Cathedral and The London Central Mosque. From Mrs Scott

I am glad that we went on this trip it was really fun, our guide was really helpful and I learned lots of interesting facts. My favourite part of it was when they called the people for the prayer, obviously we had to go, some of us just sat there and watched, some of us joined in with it.

To continue what I had said, I hope we go there again because I enjoyed it very much. It was my first time going to a Mosque. Its main entrance was about 20 times bigger than our Junior playground! All the girls had to wear scarfs and the boys wore nothing extra, for me it was a bit unfair that the girls had to wear something when the boys didn’t. But at least me and my class-mates enjoyed it, that is the good part. I want to thank Miss Fullana  for organising this trip it was a great experience. Then afterwards, we went to the park with our Ipads and took pictures of things that reminded us of Autumn. Thank you so much Miss Fullana!

It was really fun, it was the first time I’ve ever been to a mosque. The chandelier looks amazing and so did the patterns around it, which were beautiful.

I loved the trip it was very interesting. The Mosque was beautiful on the outside of the dome where there was Islamic swirly writing. It was interesting learning about the tradition and watching prayers. The Muslim guide was very nice and thank you Miss Fullana for taking us.

Thank you for letting us go to the Mosque it was very fun. I thank the staff for there amazing support, I hope they enjoyed themselves whilst caring for us. The pictures of us in headscarves are very beautiful. I enjoyed myself whilst eating lunch because we made jokes while we were eating this was one of the best trips ever. It was a educational trip but whilst learning different stuff we also had fun!!

The mosque we went to in Regents Park was amazing. It was quite different to Southwark Cathedral, because it had a huge dome on top, and there weren’t very many pictures. In the mosque most people also pray on the floor, except from the elderly or disabled.

I had a lovely time at the mosque, but it felt unusual wearing a head scarf. I also really enjoyed going to the park where I saw a heron (a fishing bird) near the bank of a lake, waiting really still! Thank you to Miss Fullana for organising this trip for year five. I hope that the next trip will be just as fun.

It was really good fun for the first time going there. I personally think it is a very good tradition to keep the mosque clean and tidy by:
covering your hair with a scarf
    taking off your shoes
washing your hands before you touch anything, and especially the Quran

The pictures are lovely and beautiful, Class 5 will be really good photographers when they’re older!
When I went to the biggest mosque in London, I found out a lot! Did you know, when you go to the prayer room, you sit in a box with lovely patterns? Did you know that Muslims pray 5 times a day?

The Mosque was absolutely beautiful! The dome was a lovely golden crisp colour. The prayer room was even more amazing, it was all different shades of blue, there was ocean blue, turquoise, dark blue, light blue and much, much more! I would recommend to everybody to just pop into one, they’re just extraordinary. A Muslim or not, the Mosque was so amazing I’m speechless. Compared to a Church a Mosque is run very differently to a Church, for example the service the class watched was only for boys. The service was about 20 to 30 minutes, but amazing! GO VISIT A MOSQUE!

I loved going to the mosque because I learnt so much about the act of prayer for muslims which was facinating. The patterns and calligraphy on the walls were amazing, and the chandelier was the biggest and brightest I had ever seen. Thank you Miss Fullana for taking us there! It really was wonderful!
