Class 5’s First Mandarin Lesson

Class 5 had fun and began learning a brand new language today: Mandarin!

We learnt greetings, and how to introduce ourselves. Some of Class 5 have decided to do some extra research to find out more about China, and everyone is going to practice outside of school, either with Chinese friends or by teaching other people what they have learnt.

Everyone who does will get one of Molly’s special stamps!

Why not post what you did, or found out, here to share it with the rest of the class?

I enjoyed Chinese (Mandrin). It was fun learning a new language. Especially with a fun teacher called Molly. We also got to play Chinese Sherlock Holmes, eventually at the end we found out it was Laura and we all had a great time. I hope next week can be even better and more fun.

I loved our first Mandarin lesson with Molly! I really enjoyed learning how to say Nihaw (which means ‘Hello’), Wo jiao (which means ‘My name is…’) and Ni jiao shenme (which means ‘What is your name?’). I taught my mum how to say them and she was very glad that we were learning how to speak and write Mandarin in addition to Spanish. I think it’s really good that we’re learning it because Mandarin is meant to be a future language and the most important one in the world. We also learnt in Class 5 that when you speak the language you have to try and not make the sound come from your throat but from your mouth. It sounds complicated, I know, but that’s what Molly told us. Anyway I really enjoyed my first lesson and I can’t wait for my next one!

I loved the Mandarin lesson because Molly taught it very well. Molly grasped the Mandarin into our heads and now we all know how to say three Chinese words which were Nihaw which means hello and Wojiab means my name is and Ni jiao shenme which means: what is your name? It was really fun.

I had fun at class 5’s first Chinese lesson, we even played a game with Chinese to find Sherlock Holmes. It was really fun we even looked at some Chinese stamps that Molly showed us and she is going to be bringing some in. She is going to bring some different stickers each week, one is a Chinese dragon. She taught us some Chinese which was really fun! If you were in the lesson I bet you would find it as fun as I did!

Our second Mandarin class was even better than last week we learnt our facial parts.
    Our nose is Bizi(Bi-za)
    Our ears are Erudo(Ar-Do)
    Our mouth is zuiba(Zua-ba)
    And our eyes are yangjid(yang-jid)

Thank you Molly for being a really good Mandarin teacher we are always excited to do Mandarin.

Hi, guys. It’s unbelievable that you have left so many messages. It’s so encouraging.
Thank you so much for your compliments. I’ll work harder to make our Chinese lessons more fun and exciting 🙂
I hope that one day you could all go to China and have an adventure there! Just imagine that you will be able to communicate with the local people there in Chinese, won’t it be cool? I’m looking forward to that day! Haha…
