Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms

Class 5 visited the Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms to deepen their understanding of life during the Blitz in London. It was fascinating the see the actual rooms that the British War Cabinet, and military leaders, used during one of the most important periods in Britain’s history.

The Churchill War Room AKA ~ AMAZING!

The Churchill War Room was a great place, it helped me with my literacy. If you are interested in history, the Churchill War Rooms is the right place for you. With rooms mocked up to look like the original war rooms (I think some of them are almost as they were left after the war), and room notes, the displays really give you a feel for what it have been like in those difficult times. Interested in 20th century history? Then these are definitely worth a visit.

When we got there, I was bursting with excitement about the trip. We entered and started to watch a starter film. After a moment or two, a very kind man named Gary gave us these tour phones, that gave us information, we went into the first room and then we listened to it and it explained every thing to us.

As I turned my head, I saw a room that had lots of seats, the curved one was for Mr Winston Churchill and we were in his bunker then we continued into the next the voice explained that they had to live in the basement to sleep and it was very unclean and unhygienic for people and if there was a gas attack they had their gas mask to keep them safe. So I looked down into the basement over a glass panel and I saw a long pipe and nothing else.

As we continued into the next room it was full of things from World War 2 and there was a toilet, gas masks, a type writer then uniforms, hats, letters and much more. During that time we listened to some more information from the guide.

    BEST TRIP EVER!
We got given these cool phone kind of things that told us loads of information. When we got into to a new section of a room, there would be a number which we would type into the phone thing, press play and then put it to our ears to listen!

I loved the Churchill War Rooms, they were amazing. Thank you so much Mr Antcliffe! It was the best trip ever, and did you know that was where Winston and his family stayed to keep them safe.
