Today, Year 5 visited KidZania. During this trip we were able to experience a range of different jobs such as cashier, police, ambulance, radio presenter, news presenter, journalist, beautician, pilot, estate agent, footballer, mechanic, model, environmentalist, chocolatier and so much more!
We also learnt about money, and the importance of saving. When we worked at a job, we were paid money, but when we wanted to buy something (for example food or have a tattoo) then we had to use our own money. Sometimes, this meant saving up and having to work two jobs before we could do this! In KidZania, they had three important rules. One of them, was not running. If we forgot this rule, the police had to fine us some money. This taught us about law and order.
When we had saved £75, then we could open a bank account. This meant that we got our own bank cards and could use the ATM machines. This was a lot easier than having to carry around all of our money!
Another exciting part of the trip was going to University. We could choose was degree we wanted to study, and although we had to pay for it, when we went to work, we cold earn more money.
Caring for the environment is really important, and so we could be environmental officers to go around and access the shops and business, and identify how we could make them more environmentally friendly. alternatively, we could work at a recycling plant, or learn to recycle paper.
There were so many things that I enjoyed about this trip – I couldn’t possibly choose my favourite! Please comment in the space below and tell me some more about your own experiences.
