I was exited to go to year 6 to read, it was fun and I enjoyed it a lot!
It was a great opportunity finding out what years 2’s favourite books were; they also seemed to enjoy the stories we had been writing in class!
Wow I hope we do it again
I like it
I enjoyed hearing the year 2’s reading, I liked seeing how we used to read and what kind of books we enjoyed when we were in year 2. I think that the year 2s were fluent as well as confident and clear.
As this page is all about reading. I decided to give you a little help when you get into year 6 with your reading test, however this is not a level 5 test but a level 6 reading test; take note. It’s all about Romans baths.
How has the author structured and organised his writing? Give your answer referring to the text.
He writes in chronological order; he starts with: explaining that ‘Romans rub perfume oil into their skin. Then he goes on to talk about how ‘they proceed to exercise.’ Then he talks about how they go onto the ‘warm room’ ‘the hot room’ and then a plunge into ice-cold water. However the author doesn’t just put it in chronological order, he uses words that were used in the Roman times, such as: ‘tepiderium’ and then he gives an explanation of what it is in brackets; as well as all this he puts the Roman words in italics to show that there not English words but Latin words such as: ‘caldrium.’
I hope you’ve learnt how to answer a level 6 reading test; don’t forget to refer to the text.
