Cycle Training

Year 6 have been learning how to manoeuvre their bicycles successfully, and how to stay safe when cycling on the roads. It was a great week, and everyone enjoyed getting out and about in London while learning a crucial life skill. We began in the playground, and then progressed onto cycling around the local area.

How did this week’s cycling course change your behaviour on the road?

What lessons would you share with others who haven’t done the course yet?

Why would you recommend the course to others?

I did not realize that you had to put a lot of hard work and concentration on just turning. It made me begin to understand that all cyclists need to do the right thing even if we do not notice it

Do not be afraid on the road, this advice really helped me, a person who had never been on the road with a bike. With this advice I was more confident and did not ever fall off my bike. Also, always listen to your teacher: he is trying to keep you safe and even if you do not think it is the right thing to do, it will be.

You understand how to use the road and you understand how to use your bike. You see a cyclist’s point of view on the road and understand why you should not over take them when you are an adult driving your car.

The Bike Training was helpful because helped me know the rules of the road; it was a good experience, seeing what things you have to do in the road – like if you’re on the left of the road, you should check back right to make sure no one is behind you.
    Thank you Bike Trainers!

Ever since I did this amazing course I have been looking at cyclists on the road and judging their ways of passing T-Junctions, starting their journeys, signalling and all the other helpful things we were taught. I would like to call myself a professional but I think I am turning into a cycling perfectionist!
