R.E. At Cathedral School

At Cathedral School, R.E. is very important to us. This week, we have been discussing what we enjoy most in R.E. at school, and advising our teachers on what we would like to do more of.

Praying

What do you enjoy in R.E.?

What have been some of your most memorable experiences?

What would you like to do more of?

Is there anything that we can do better?

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY IN R.E.?
I enjoy learning about different religions because it is important to learn about other faiths as well as your own – and it is fun! I also like the school trips which enrich and support our classroom learning.

What have been some of your most memorable experiences?
I found doing the Christmas and Easter plays very memorable experiences. They helped me understand the characters and stories in the bible better, and it was very special to do them in the Cathedral. I also enjoyed doing Candlemas.

What would you like to do more of?
I would like to do more RE workshops. They helped me because the people visiting to talk about the specific faith can share their experiences and knowledge firsthand, and we can also ask them all sorts of questions to learn more.

Is there anything that we can do better?
It would be fantastic to learn more about ancient religions, and have some trips to the British Library and other places to support it.

Q: What do you enjoy in RE?
A: I enjoy RE because we learn a diverse range of religions and use different medias; I also enjoy using RE in our other subjects. E.G. if in RE we are learning about the miracles, we could also be writing stories about Jesus and his miracles in literacy.

Q:What has been one of your most memorable experiences?
A: Going to the oldest synagogue in England, it was so beautiful!

Q:What would you like to do more?
A: Learn about the Sikh religion and the Buddhist religion.

Q:Is there anything we could do better?
Maybe use different religions when learning one religion, when learning about Jesus, his importance for the Jewish Faith.

I have really enjoyed R.E at Cathedral School, but the thing I love most is learning about different religions and I have enjoyed the trips to different places of worship. At Cathedral School, we also take visits to our local church: Southwark Cathedral, I really enjoyed it when our class did the Christmas play and I am really looking forward to the end of year show, which we might do. My most memorable moment was when we did the Easter and Christmas play – it was nerve wracking nerve racking but fun.

I would like to do more of meeting more people from different religions, as it will extend our knowledge of different faiths, by asking questions. This will tell us about their experiences and building from different religions that have some very fascinating history.

The thing I enjoy most about R.E. is learning about how different religions perform their religions and how they pray and do things in their religion. I also like all the different trips we go as we go to different places of worship like the Mosque, the Cathedral and the Synagogue.

What has been one of your most memorable experiences?
I think it would be going to the Cathedral as not my schools get to watch and perform Cathedral Services at the Cathedral so it is a very important honour and I am very proud to be a part of school with such a honour.

What would like to do more?
I would like to learn about more religions.

I like learning about different religions, and all their beliefs in god and how they are different to Christianity. Like Maddie I enjoy going on RE trips, particularly going to different religions places of worship, my particular favourite was the Synagogue. I found doing the Christmas and Easter plays memorable, it was so fun but I was also learning so much more. As well as the acting plays, I also enjoyed writing passages about a bible story. I like it when the priest comes and answers our questions. I would like to do more drawing art lessons where we draw a moment in the story and give it a caption, then we can all put different moments together and make a display. I would like to learn about how our religions have changed over time, whilst going to the library and finding out for ourselves

What do you enjoy in R.E.: I love the trips that we do like last time we went to the Bevis Mark Synagogue and the Regent’s Park Mosque. It was really fun. I wish we could go again.

What have been some of your most memorable experiences: My most memorable experience is when we did the Christmas and Easter play. Especially the Easter play in Year 4, when I was Peter.

What would you like to do more of: Last week we did a brainstorm of what we like doing in R.E. for Mrs Leighton. I wish we can do it again because I enjoy everything in R.E. so can we please do it again maybe next week so I can write more stuff down.

Is there any thing we can do better: I think the thing you can do best is take us to more trips because I like to learn R.E. and it would be fun if we do more trips on R.E., then I can literally understand the meaning of R.E.

Q: WHAT DO YOU ENJOY ABOUT R.E.?
A: I enjoy everything about R.E. In particular, I like how we can do it through a range of media such as: art; we can draw or paint a picture of a story in the bible; displays; we can use any other way of doing R.E. and make it into a display to show what we have learnt, and much more!

Q: WHAT HAVE BEEN SOME OF YOUR MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCES?
A: I remember when we did our first Class 6 Cathedral service. I enjoyed it a lot and I am looking forward to our next opportunity to do it again. Also, we are lucky enough to have Father Michael as our Governor.

Q: WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO MORE OF?
A: Since I really enjoyed everything, there isn’t really anything I would like to do next. Of course, I still want to do RE. but what I mean is that I am open to anything!

Q: WHAT CAN WE DO BETTER?
A: I think that we should go into complicated stories and actually study what happens in stories in the Bible. We could (as a challenge) read the story of Esther or and Ruth

I enjoy when we do art in R.E because it is so much fun and I like the fantastic trips as well (like going to the Synagogue and lots more). What have been some of your most memorable experiences? When we had to draw and decorated our own Synagogue.

What would you like to do more of? Art because it my favorite subject. Is there anything that we can do better? Well no, because every R.E lesson is fun.

1.In RE, I really enjoy the trips, learning about different religions and World Faiths Week!

    2. One of my most memorable moments is when I got to read a prayer out, at the Cathedral – in front of over 50 people (although I had a little stage-fright) and another memorable moment was in the Easter play too! I was an angel (with Ella Mae) and I loved the angel costumes, especially the wings, those were very memorable moments (and hopefully there will be many more to come).

    3. I would hope to do more art in RE because I love learning about the Bible and doing art.

    4. The school is really good at RE so there is nothing that I can really say to improve it and I think it’s fine just the way it is!

What do you enjoy most in RE?
I like it when we read a story from the bible and then from what we have heard we have to draw what we think the scene is like then we remember the story.

What has been your most memorable experiences?
My most memorable experience is when we did the Easter and Christmas play as it reminds us about the story.

What would you like to do more of?
I would like to do some more workshops like when we did the Hindu workshop.

Is there anything we can do better?
Maybe we could go on more trips to learn about different religons as that is a fun way of learning RE.

What do you enjoy about R.E.?
I enjoy services since we get to listen to the Christmas Story, learn about the Bible and readings from there. The trips that we go on like Bevis Marks Synagogue and The Islamic Central Mosque are exciting and I usually have a lot of fun.

What have been some of your most memorable experiences?
Our reflections service late last year as we were allowed to share our opinions about R.E. and reflect on what we learnt in previous R.E. lessons. Going on trips and workshops is very nice, especially a few years ago when we went to the Cathedral and designed stain-glass windows.

What would you like to do more of?
Learn more of Jesus’ parables. They show what Jesus’ preaching was actually like and what he did as a lifestyle. We did some brief research in Year 5 and I  want to learn some more.

Is there anything that we can do better?
Ms Fullana and Sue teach us very well. They try their best and I don’t think there is much they can do better.

    Religious Education

    What I enjoy about R.E ?
I enjoy everything we do in R.E since I came to this school. The teachers plan a range of lessons that are not only fun and interactive, but we learn at the same time. I enjoy leading services at the cathedral that show all the learning we have done this term. Every Thursday, we have somebody from the church coming to lead an assembly. We also get to learn about a range of religions and how they pray differently from ours. We even get to visit the place where they worship!

What has been your most memorable experiences?
My most treasured memory is when we were leading services; I was happy to share it with my friends and family. I also remember when Bishop Goffrey came from Zimbabwe, he shared what was happening at Daramumbi Primary. Not many schools get to communicate with other schools around the world, so we are very lucky we get to do it. I also remember doing the Christmas play in Class 5.

What would you like to do more of?
I would like to do more R.E workshops; I would like to do more of it so I can expand my knowledge of different religions, e.g. when we did the Hindu workshop, I learnt lots of things that I did not know before.

Is there anything we could do better?
To make R.E better in this school  we could learn about how our religions have changed over time and what we do differently now.

What do you enjoy in R.E.?
What I enjoy most is the variety of lessons that we do and how you can express your opinion about any religion and on the passage or parables that we read in the Bible. As well as going on the trips, which is one of the best parts – learning other religions.

What have been some of your most memorable experiences?
When we got to do our first service of the year, and read the Salt and Light passage. And how we got to share our thoughts of what the meanings were of the passage and actually use them in the service!
What would you like to do more of?
I would like to know more about the Gods of different religions and how they think that the world was made. Also dig deeper into our own religion.
Is there anything else we could do? Maybe do more workshops on different religions and learn some of their rules and legends and the similarities or differences.

What do you enjoy in RE?

I enjoy learning about different religions and their beliefs, but what I also like about RE is that it brings us as a class closer together; we all discuss our opinions of the subject and listen to each others which, in my opinion, makes us – as a class – better friends.

What have been some of your most memorable experiences?
Doing the Cathedral productions has to be the most memorable experience, the things that make this true for me, is that everyone in the school comes to see it, no matter if they are students or the parents. Also, everyone (the whole school) puts effort into the service (e.g. some classes sing, some classes perform, teachers teach the class the songs…) and that’s what I think makes it really special.

What would you like to do more of?
I would like to do more RE workshops as it is a good way to learn about different RE subjects, it’s good to be able to ask questions and find out information from a visitor who has come to teach us specifically about a topic that they are interested in.

Is there anything we can do better?
Although at Cathedral School we get a wonderful education in all subjects (especially RE), I think if we went on more trips then we would be enriched in knowledge of the subject we are learning about at the time.

What do you enjoy in R.E.?
I enjoy the variety of learning we gain in R.E. like art, partner work, working on the laptops and the R.E. trips. We gain such a variety that I think we are the best school at accomplishing our goals for R.E.
What have been some of your most memorable moments?
When we do our services because it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity that not many schools can accomplish. I would also have to add in the trips because they teach us things we could never otherwise understand.
What would you like to do more of ?
I would like to learn about ancient religions but also religions that are less common.
Is there anything we can do better?
No. I think everything is fine as it is, but I really like to see my suggestions be listened to and to learn about those topics because what we do in R.E. is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

What do you enjoy about R.E.?
I really love writing prayers because I get to really think deeply about what the subject is and put it into a prayer of my own. Debating is really fun as you are able to express your opinion (which is a right) and you get to create a friendly argument with your peers. I like to attend the clergy assembles and learn different miracles performed by Jesus The Healer, our R.E. topic .

What have been some of your most memorable experiences?
I think that my first every service – Candlemass – was one of the best experiences because it was the first time I had been on stage in the Cathedral. When I was in Yr 4, I did the Easter play and the Christmas service in Yr 5. Visiting the Bevis Marks Synagogue and the Regent’s Park Mosque were unforgettable experiences, as I met the Rabbi in the synagogue.

What would you like to do more of?
I would like to do more Bible reading in class, so I know how to find different parables. I would also like to do more drawing in the lesson to show different stories in pictures.

    I REALLY ENJOY R.E.!

    2. One of my most memorable moments is the trip to Bevis Marks Synagogue, as we learnt so much there and one of the rabbis answered some of our questions

    3. I would like to have more trips based on other faiths as I really enjoy learning about other faiths as well as Christianity

    4. I think that we should do R.E more often.

    What I enjoy about RE
    – is learning about different religions. I like this because I am interested in what other people believe in, and what different traditions there are for different faiths. I also like visiting different places of worship to understand what they do differently to church.
What have been some of your most memorable experiences
When we learnt about Hinduism and the different festivals such as Diwali and Holi (the festivals of light and colour). The reason I liked it so much is because we made brochures to sum up what we’d learnt.
What I would like more of is
    – workshops with people who believe in other religions
    – learning about the culture surrounding different religions eg music, art and dress

What I really enjoy about our R.E. Lessons is that we always do really interactive
lessons learning about different religions, different faiths and parables from the
Bible. We also go on these really AMAZING trips, not only that but we are having
a great time but we are also learning about the world around us.

We must all agree that R.E is one of the best lessons in our school career and we get to meet amazing examples of that like at the end of last year Bishop Godfrey….

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE AMAZING LESSONS CATHEDRAL SCHOOL; but just one quick little suggestion, maybe we could as many other people have said, please can we have a few more trips and then I will defiantly establish the true meaning of R.E.

What I like about RE in Cathedral School is that we get to go on trips to synagogues and mosques to learn about different religions.  My most memorable experience was the Easter play because we got to showcase the story of the crucifixion. Also what I would like to do more of is to plays, but on the main parts of Jesus’ life. Also I would like to do more art lessons where we draw.

I really like going on RE trips, like to synagogue, as it shows how many different people worship. I also really like discussing many different religions with my classmates. I found the Christmas play one of my most memorable experiences because it made me understand what Christmas is really about. I would like to visit a Sikh Temple in London because it is another religion I would like to know more about. We could also invite other religious groups to visit our school more often.

    Almighty God,
I thank you that you give us a good quality education as well as our books and technology because some schools are not fortunate to have these wonderful things we have. I thank you that we get taught the full curriculum because some schools get taught the same things each day. I also thank you that we have teachers, TAs and the staff who don’t give up on us, even when times are rough.
Almighty Father may you please help us become wise but also kind leaders so we can set an example but also so we do not hurt people, but help them when times are tough. O Father in Heaven, I also ask for strength so we never give up, even when we are drawn to. O Almighty God I ask that we each gain a bright future and may you help us to never be tempted by darkness but that we stay in your light to do good. In Jesus’ name I say this prayer.
    Amen.

    Omnipotent Father,
Thank you for everything we have at Cathedral School. Thank you for all the wonderful books we have, books help get the quality education we get a Cathedral School. Thank you for Book Week, we read books we may not have read before. Thank you for the technology we can use, giving us vital experience. Thank you for all of the educational trips we have, they are always so fascinating.

Father I ask for wisdom, everyone needs to show their wisdom, if we follow good examples, then the world would be a better place. Father I ask that everyone, everywhere, will get a good education. We learn a new thing every day but some people do not, let us grasp our advantages in full strength. Father I ask you for courage – helping us to do the right thing in any situation. Father please give us belief, sending us on the right path; if we go down the wrong path, direct us back into safety.

    Father in Heaven,
As we enjoy book week and our time at Cathedral School, we will ask for: courage – to help us reach our full potential, confidence – to give us the strength in succeeding, hope – for the future that lies ahead of us, love – to make us thankful for having such great friends, opportunities and staff; and most importantly: control – to help us focus on what is right and forget all that is wrong.
We would also like to give thanks for everything we have and all that we have earned: thank you for the resources we have at Cathedral School for example, laptops, iPads, books, displays and much more. Thank you having such caring staff and teachers in the classrooms and all around the school; and thank you for giving us rights – so we are all respected, loved and heard. With your help, our personalities and hard work, we – as a school and as our own person – will be able to succeed and achieve the highest possibilities.
Please give us the belief we need to do, and keep, all of this in both our mind and our bodies; remember that with every step we take on our journey through childhood, we thank you for forgiving us and loving us always – even if we lose our way or do not follow the leading light.
    Amen

    Heavenly Father ,
We thank you for giving us the chance to go to school every day; letting us learn lots of new things every day. Thank you that you provide us with resources to learn and you give us teachers who help us when we struggle with anything; giving us support every step of the way. Thank you for letting us get more insight on subjects by supplying us with trips.
Help us to be respectful and good leaders to others by setting an example for others to follow. Give us the wisdom to know what is right and wrong; leading us to the right path you have made for us. Gratitude for when we receive opportunities that lead to success. May we all be beacons of happiness, kindness, hope, faith in our school year and for further years, so we can kind-heartedly lead others. Also for us to change the world so that we and other people can live life in all its fullness.

In the name of the Father I pray,
I pray that as I’m going to leave this school, it will still live in peace and love. We thank you for everything you’ve done for this school and that you will still keep on doing it. We thank you for the education the school has given us and we hope that other children in this school will achieve better. I hope that when other children come, you will protect them and protect the school.
I couldn’t be happier for the teachers that you have put in this school; they’re amazing and I ask you to let them keep on succeeding. Cathedral School has been one of the best schools I’ve ever been to and when younger children come, I hope it is for them too. When I started this school, I felt scared and lonely but it was the teachers and my friends that made me start to like this school. I have great friends and fantastic teachers in this school so I will just like to say thank.
What I have said in this prayer, Lord please make it come true in the name of your son, Jesus Christ.
    Lord in thy mercy,
    Hear my prayer.

    Almighty Father,
I thank you lord, that we have a right to an education where we can try our best to achieve everything that is possible. I thank you for all these golden opportunities showered upon us as we travel to different places. I also thank you that we have all these books, where we can pick up good vocabulary and use it in the future when we might need it. We thank you that we learn range a range of things so that we can have confidence in more than one subject. I also thank you for all the teachers, TAs and staff that gives us courage when times are rough.

Please may you give us the strength to reach our full potential in life. Let us make the right decisions, so we can take the right path that will lead to love and compassion, not the wrong path which may lead us into hatred and despair. Let us see and feel what other people are facing so we can step out into the world and do what is right to help the world become a better place. I ask that we gain a bright future and stay in your holy light forever even when times get hard.

    Father in Heaven,
Thank–you for helping us learn something new every day and for the golden opportunities you have showered upon Cathedral School. Thank–you for the teachers and teaching staff supporting us in school and for being able to attend one of the best schools in the country. Lord, thank–you for being and giving our strength to those who are in doubt and are in need of a helping hand; a touch of your vivid, rich light.
Please father give us understanding to help us support others and for luring us into your immortal light of hope for the world’s future, that we had beseeched you for. Help us to thrive in life and to give us knowledge, faith and peace and strength to carry on. Give us courage to be independent and to own up to our mistakes. Give us sense and kindness to be grateful for the wisdom you have laid upon us, to be wise when difficult decisions need to be made and make sure we apologise to the people we have hurt the most.

I pray to you to give us understanding between right and wrong, good and bad in life, so we can control the decisions we make in the future – let us reach for the stars, so we can all reach for the highest potential we can. To let us grow up and be the person that we want and choose to be and show people that there is always hope to solve small problems to world problems.
Bless the souls that have provided us with the best technology, to support us while we are learning the true meaning of life. May you bless all the teachers that have given up their time to take us through the land of learning – and have spent all these years at our beloved school to make us who we are today, at this moment.
Please send your guidance to all who are feeling low spirits, unhappy and that they don’t fit in, let us have the strength to do those actions – tell them that they are perfect and are not to be afraid of who they are. Give people hope that have lost a loved one in a difficult way – please bless all that stand here today and let them feel safe and loved by our presence.
Please let us all take advantage of all our opportunities and accept all those different to ourselves.
In the name of Jesus Christ
                                        Amen

    Heavenly Father,
Thank you for all the wonderful books we have at Cathedral Primary School. I hope all the schools without any books find some fantastic interesting books to read. Without all these books we will not be able to write as well as we do now. I thank you for the TAs who help us when we need help. I would also like to thank all the teachers for teaching us and guiding us.
Bless the people who need help. Bless the people who provide the things we need like: books, whiteboards, pens and many more. Let us know from right and wrong. Help us stay tough through good and bad times. Father we pray that you help us do the best we can possibly do. Please send you guidance to all the people with low spirits.

In the name of Jesus I pray
    Amen
