Class 3 get creative!

Class 3 have starting working on their 500 word story for the BBC Radio 2 500 Word competition.

We have begun creating a word bank to describe our senses to write an excellent setting. Our story will be set in a park, so we went to Redcross Gardens and described what we could see, hear, feel and touch.

After we collated our word brainstorms, we then turned these ideas into creative noun phrases, with ambitious adjectives.

I can see your stories are going to be wonderful Class 3!

Menier Theatre practice begins

It is very exciting! In Class 3, we have started working with The Menier Theatre looking into themes in the production Funny Girl (which is currently on at the Menier Theatre) and working towards creating our own composition.  On Monday, we discussed what makes us laugh and we explored activities to show how we work as a team on stage.

We also carefully looked at the stage set and the reason each part of the stage appears in a certain way.

Here’s to more exciting workshops with The Menier Theatre!

Class 3 celebrate colourful London for Arts Week

Class 3 have been working hard to create colourful collages with different types of material for Arts Week. We decided which landmarks across London really characterise the city, and sketched the landmarks together. We chose our favourite sketching and created collages.

Can you think why we decided on blue, red and whites as our choice of colours for the collages?

Which materials are the children using? Some final examples of the collages to be uploaded here soon!

Class 3 celebrate Christmas

We had a wonderful time over the Christmas period. We created Christmas decorations, wrote Christmas shape poems and Father Christmas stories.

We also enjoyed an excellent Cathedral School Christmas lunch and Christmas party – where we played ‘pass the parcel’ and ‘musical statues’.

Turns out there are some impressive Class 3 disco dancers…
