Class 3 learn all about Algeria for International Week

We have had such an exciting week learning all about a new country.

Some of the exciting things we have done, include:

Learning about the Fennec Fox (Algeria’s national animal), writing our own Algerian newspaper reports, creating a Fennec Fox collage, learning the Algerian national anthem and what the words mean, listening to the story ‘The tortoise and the hare’ which was told to us in Greek and English by a parent reader.

We have also learnt about Islam, the religion worshiped by many Algerians. We were very lucky to have artifacts from Algeria that we could discuss and learn about.

Thank you to class 3 for all your energy and enthusiasm in learning about a new country this week. You looked excellent in your international outfits today!

Enjoy your half term, keep shining.

I really  enjoyed learning about Algeria because, it’s really interesting to learn about. Algerian people speak French and Arabic. Even some people in year 3 brought some things in to show us and they looked very interesting. We even learned about a fox in Algeria called the Fennec Fox. In art we also made some Fennec Fox art collages (that was the funniest part of learning about Algeria ). Learning about Algeria was so fun! What next?

I liked international week because there was more very fun activities. One day my class mates said it was Taym’s day because he got to do lots of things as his heritage is Algerian.

I really like international week each year because you get to learn about a different country. It was fun learning about Algeria and all it’s interesting links to all the learning we have been doing recently in our class. The Fennec Fox is Algeria’s national  animal. It is sooooo cute! It has very big sticky-out ears and soft brown fur to blend in with the scenery – an Algerian dessert with swirling sand all around. On its face it has really sweet, big, imploring eyes that almost hypnotise them, they are that cute! Even though they are cute, and all that, they are wild and you have to be careful of them. Like Tito said : Cute appearance but dangerous mind! The star and crescent on the Algerian flag is the symbol of Islam and they have that symbol on their flag because most people in Algeria are Muslims (people who worship Islam.) We have some people in our class who are Muslims. Here are some of them: Amaan, Isaac, Zakaria, Taym and Imran. Taym is from Algeria and we were really lucky because he bought in some artefacts. So did Isaac and Zakaria because their dad is Algerian.
