Class 4 experience Kidzania!

Last week, Class 4 went on a school trip to Kidzania. It was so much fun! We (children only!) got to try our hands at many different jobs; firemen, policemen, doctors, nurses, pilots, chefs, fashion stylists and many more. The children had to get themselves jobs to earn money.

On arrival, the children were given 50 kidzos (kidzania currency) and the challenge to earn 75 Kidzos meant they could then open their own bank account.

We had a wonderful time trying lots of different jobs and being paid for them; we spent our KidZos on face paint and in the shop!

It was great to see the children being independent learners, acting responsibly and managing their time so well.

Well done Class 4, I am looking forward to Kidzania helping our recount writing unit and enabling us to look closer at life outside of school.

Class 4 become expert puppeteers for D&T week

Well done Class 4. You really did create excellent Rod Puppets for D&T week. I was extremely impressed with your creativity and design ideas, in order to produce really interesting puppets.

Your plans clearly considered how you could efficiently and effectively design and create puppets. And, look how wonderful they are.

The puppet shows and puppet presentations were also super.

A very successful week, well done.

Class 4’s William Morris Gallery

In Class 4, we have been learning about William Morris, who lived and worked during the Victorian era. He was born in 1834 and he died in 1896. He was incredibly creative and produced decorative art in a range of different forms, including: textiles, furniture, wallpaper, stained glass windows, book design and tapestry.

We discussed a famous William Morris quote:

Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.

We then tried to copy some of his designs using water paints – we agreed that this type of paint would compliment Morris’s natural works.

We then created our own Class gallery, writing helpful comments on each other’s work.

Class 4, comment on how you achieved a successful William Morris painting.

We are Scientists of Sound

We have learnt so much about sound in Science. We have been investigating what sound is and learning how sound is a type of energy made by vibrations. When any object vibrates, it causes movement in the air particles – these particles bump into the particles close to them, making them vibrate.

We have also labelled diagrams of our ears and the workings inside of our ears – with pictures of our OWN ears.

Class 4, can you explain how sound travels?

Our outstanding Iron Man stories

Class 4 have written some beautiful Iron Man recounts. We considered many literary features and techniques to make our Iron Man stories exciting. We carefully worked hard on describing character, scene setting and plot progression.

We created an excellent Iron Man display in our room, showing our outstanding writing. We had so many lovely comments about the board in our class, we decided to create another Iron Man display also showing our Iron Man writing, for the whole school to see.

Class 4, what do you like about the Iron Man displays?
