Maths Practice

maths is fun

As we discussed in class, I’d like to know which topics you would like to do a little bit more work on in the next few weeks.

Maybe you didn’t quite understand it; maybe you understood, but you would like to practice; maybe you want to make sure you can apply the skills that you have learnt to a range of different questions.

For some of the topics, you might just like some extra practice for homework, or we could go over it in booster; if a lot of people would like to revise that topic, I will plan a lesson for the whole of Class 6!

What would you like to practice?

Why do you think a little more practice would be helpful?

What do you hope to achieve by practicing more?

How can I best help you to improve in this area?

I would love to have some extra practice on calculations because I sometimes make little mistakes.

If I do that I’ll be able to get extra marks which may contribute to a 5A or even a 6!

I would like to have practice on word problems. A little more practice would be helpful because sometimes I struggle to find out what the questions are asking me to do and sometimes I don’t know what calculations to do (without writing things that don’t answer the question) and I hope with a few practices, I will be flying through the word problems and taking maths practice from the tray. I think that we could go through some proper papers so that we understand what the questions are asking us to do because I think that is what most people struggle with and when SATs arrive we will know how to answer the questions and get the highest mark possible, because most things we already know how to do. Thank you Miss Fullana!

I would really like to do BIDMAS because we only got one lesson on it and I need refreshing. I would also like to do dividing decimals because I have not done it for a while. The last thing I would like to do is percentages because I think I do know it, but I need one more lesson or booster on it.

Please can we do some more work on the level 6 questions, because if I fully understood exactly what they meant, I would be able to answer them a lot easier.

I would like to work on converting measurements, because I do know it but I can`t really remember; I would like a sheet that shows me something like this: cm>mm> I want something like that showing me which measurement is bigger or smaller and if you times or divide it.

That’s a great, practical idea Araya, I’ll make one for the whole class; I think lots of people in the class will appreciate your suggestion. Thank you!

In booster I would like to learn more about division because I am not that confident. The division I need more practise on is short division.
