Design Technology week

This week was DT week at Cathedral School, and Nursery began a new topic on The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark.

We decided to use DT week to help Plop the Baby Barn Owl not to be afraid. We made light-catching mobiles by gluing layers of tissue paper to make interesting colours, perfect for brightening up the night for our new friend Plop. We talked about how important it is to recycle, so we reused plastic bags to make the strings for our mobiles to hang from – luckily, they were nice and colourful too!

We also began turning our role play area into a night time scene, complete with barn owl nest and nocturnal animals.

Please leave us a comment to let us know what you like about the night time, and maybe we can add your ideas to our role play!

Your mobiles are really useful! I wonder when my friend will stop being scared of the dark? Maybe I could have one please.
