On Monday, Reptile Life visited school and nursery got the chance to meet some of the animals. We met a snake, a tortoise and two meerkats, one of which got the giggles!
We also met a young barn owl named Dexter, who was just like the owls in our class text! We learnt some owl facts too: owls with black eyes are usually nocturnal, and owls with yellow eyes are usually awake during the day (diurnal). Back in class, we used information books to find out more about nocturnal animals.
Do you think Dexter the barn owl is nocturnal or diurnal?
That’s great! I will be sure to mention Dexter when we talk about The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark!
Well done Nursery for not being afraid of some of those deadly animals, but of course the animal visit was exciting! I loved it, and my favorouite part was the laughing meerkat Roxy, but also I did like the Tenreks, they were adorable. That was such a treat, but as it is school we did learn some facts about all the animal kingdoms and invertabrates/vertabrates, classification, exo-skeletons, habitats and things that we have been doing in Science.
But most of all, Well Done Nursery for being so brave and seeing those animals!
Looks like you got to touch some wild animals! But shhh, don`t scare them.
Were you scared?
