Summer 2 Week 7 Reception End of Year Party!!

Stars of the week: All of Reception!

This week the children were fashion designers and drew their design onto Miss Wells’s dress. She now has a beautiful, unique dress that reflects all of the wonderful Reception children. To celebrate our fantastic year in Reception we had a party where we made jam sandwiches and played duck, duck goose and musical statues. We also made sure everyone was invited by making a special invitation for everyone in the class.

Good luck in Year 1! I will miss you all.

Summer 2 – Week 6

Stars of the week: Timothy and Leo H

What a week for Reception!!! On Monday we went to the school fair where we did some Hawaiian themed activities including the limbo. On Tuesday we took part in a Stomp workshop where we learnt how to dance like they do in the musical Stomp! On Wednesday we had a mini sports day stay and play where we did some egg and spoon racing, javelin throwing and an obstacle course with our parents. Just when you thought that wasn’t enough on Thursday we went to the theatre to see Mog the Forgetful Cat. The songs, the acting the story was incredible! Not quite sure I’ve ever heard of such an exciting week but the Reception children were so wonderfully behaved and very much enjoyed themselves. Below are some pictures from some of our various activities:

Summer 2 Week 5

Stars of the week: Sienna and Irene

This week we have been reading the story Bob man on the Moon and using our acting skills to act out a day in the life on the moon. The children then used this to write some amazing sentences all about Bob. We have also been looking at different types of patterns in maths, and have even looked at number patterns like counting in 2s. Here are some photos of some lovely outdoor learning we have done this week with the parachute.

Well done to stars of the week Sienna and Irene who have shown amazing amounts of enthusiasm this week and have been brilliant at taking care around the classroom.

Summer 2 Week 4 – Transitions

Stars of the week: Tireni and Alma

We have been preparing ourselves for our transition to year 1 this week. We have completed a carousel of activities to get us used to sitting at tables and doing work independently. Reception children have been fantastic this week, showing us they are ready for Year 1. They have also been showing the nursery children around the Reception children to prepare them for their transition to Reception.

Well done to Tireni and Alma who have done especially well this week with their work and helping others.

Summer 2 – Week 2 Space

Stars of the week: Mia and Arthur

This week we have been learning about the Apollo 11 mission to the moon and different planets in the solar system. We have made some paper mache planets and painted them.

Well done to Mia and Arthur. Arthur has been asking lots of questions about the different astronauts and how the solar system started and Mia has written a fantastic story about aliens.

Summer 2 – Week 1 Space

Stars of the week: Marley and Jeremiah

This week we started our new topic all about space. We have transformed our home corner into a space area with a rocket, the planet Venus and a Reception space centre. The children have really loved learning about the different things we find in space and all about the different planets.

Summer 1 – Week 6

Stars of the week: All of Reception

This week all Reception children put on a spectacular Collective Worship for the rest of the school. Here are some videos below. They loved sharing everything they had learnt about animals and plants and how they grow!

Summer 1 Week 5

Stars of the week: Joyce and Romeo

This week we have been singing the nursery rhyme Wiggly Woo, about a worm at the bottom of the garden. We looked at some amazing gardens Wiggly Woo might like to have an adventure to and wrote some sentences about it.

Well done to Joyce and Romeo who wrote some fantastic descriptions.

Summer 1 Week 3

Stars of the Week: Leo L and Freiya

This week the children have enjoyed learning all about King Charles ahead of the coronation this Saturday. We have been getting busy with lots of different coronation themed activities, from making peg board flags, creating a King Charles collage to re-enacting the coronation at the small world table.
