The Blog of Cathedral Primary School's Class 1
This week we are learning about money and thinking about how we spend it!
What are the values of each of these coins?
How many different ways can you make 5p?
How many different ways can you make 10p?
Can you make 7p using the fewest number of coins?
Can you make 26p using the fewest number of coins?
How many pennies do you need to make £1?
In Class 1 we have been working very hard on our handwriting. Together we came up with 5 golden rules.
1. Your letters should sit correctly on the line.
2. Your letters should face the correct way.
3. Make sure all your letters are the same size.
4. Don’t use giant writing or tiny writing!
5. Check your ds and bs.
Click on the link below to use the sky writer game to practice each letter.
Have a look at our working display wall for class 1’s top tips on how to achieve your very best when writing.
What must you remember in your writing?
Our class text this term is George’s Marvellous Medicine. We have already started to read the first part of the story and we are all very excited to learn more about the characters and plot. Lots of our writing this term will be inspired by this book.
We will also be learning more about Roald Dahl and his other stories. Throughout September, to remember Roald Dahl’s birthday, there are lots of activities to get involved with on his website. Here is the link to find out more.
Please leave a comment, thinking about the following questions:
What ingredients would you put in your own Marvellous Medicine?
What other Roald Dahl stories do you know?
Can you use some adjectives to describe Grandma?
