Easter

Class 2 have achieved so much of the course of the Spring Term. Highlights include: the trip to the National Portrait Gallery to see the Samuel Pepys and Charles II portraits; visiting Redcross Gardens to observe and measure growth in plants; taking part in the Easter Service at the Cathedral; working hard and learning lots in every lesson and, most memorably, performing the Great Fire of London Assembly to the whole school.

Have a very restful and enjoyable Easter.

With the Year 2 SATs not far away, any extra work that you can do at home over the holidays will be very beneficial.

If you would like to do some additional work then the following activities will be particularly helpful.

  1. Read as much as possible (remembering to write any reading you do in the Reading Record).
  2. Practise addition and subtraction skills. These will be particularly important for the Year 2 SATs.
  3. Learn how to identify, and use, adjective, nouns, verbs and adverbs.
  4. Practise writing sentences using conjunctions (because, and, or, but, that, which).
  5. Find words that have a suffix (words ending with -ful, -ly, -ness, -less, -ing, -ed) when reading and learn to spell these words. Extend yourself by identifying words that have the same letters at the end but are not actually words with suffixes (e.g. king has ing at the end but there’s no root word so it’s not a word with a suffix).
