Arithmetic – Adding when crossing the tens boundary
Below is an outline of how to develop skills in addition.
- Write out a range of 2-digit numbers, e.g. 25, 37, etc
- Partition the numbers into tens and units, e.g. 20 + 5, 30 + 7
- Add the tens values together, e.g. 20 + 30 = 50
- Add the units values together, e.g. 5 + 7 = 12
- Add the two totals together to calculate the final answer, e.g. 50 + 12 = 62 so 25 + 37 = 62
The tests will be on Thursday 24th March.
