Below are the spellings for this week’s Spelling Test in Class 2. The theme for this week’s spellings is –contractions (two words that become one when you use an apostrophe).

Arithmetic – Subtraction

Below is an outline of how to develop skills in subtracting.

1. Subtract 1-digit numbers from 2-digit numbers using missing numbers, e.g. 21 – __ = 15
2. Subtract 10 from any 2-digit number using missing numbers, e.g. __ – 10 = 33
3. Subtract multiples of 10 from any 2-digit number, e.g. 43 – 20 = 23 and 43 – 30 = 13
4. Subtract two 2-digit numbers by counting on from the smallest number to the biggest number, e.g. 43 – 29 = 14
5. Subtract two 1-digit numbers from a 2-digit number, e.g. 43 – 7 – 5 = 31

The tests will be on Friday 22^nd April.
