Cycling to Success

Thank you to Sean and Festus for teaching Year 3 how to be safe cyclists on the roads. Year 3 had a wonderful time learning about bicycle safety, importantly, putting themselves in the best position to avoid any road danger.

Have a look at our photos:

It looks like you had great fun bike training. I hope you have learnt something new about staying safe on your bikes. I wish I could do that.

I loved doing cycling! I think it will be so fun for other classes to do it as well. It was for 2 days and I learnt so much in just 1 hour.  It was a great opportunity for our class. While we were there we learnt something that we have to do every time before riding your bike, it is called a b c d check. a stands for air b stands for brakes c is chain and d stands for direction. We learnt how to ride one-handed. It was really hard. We learnt that we have to signal by looking behind us and putting our hand out. Before we did that, we prepared for it by looking behind and telling Sean and Festus how many fingers they were holding and riding one-handed.

I learnt a lot on Tuesday and Monday, we did A, B, C and D check on our bikes!
A is for air, B is for brakes, C is for chain, D is for direction. Then we looked at our helmets to see if they fitted us. After, we looked and changed our gears to see how it felt. Next, we played a game where we had a little box and we couldn’t put our foot down or bump into someone, in the tiny space.
If we did, we were out and when there was less people the space got smaller. And Festus taught us a trick, you have to keep going backwards and forwards with both pedals! Thank you Sean and Festus!
