Maths Investigation Skills

In Class 5 this week, we were developing our maths investigation skills, as well as our knowledge of shape and space.

We worked collaboratively, and made some interesting discoveries about the sums of the angles of a variety of polygons (without using a protractor), and recorded our results systematically. Have a look at our pictures to see how we investigated the angles and recorded our results. What might be the best way to present our findings?

In each group, there were 3 roles:

The team leader makes sure the group is on task and that everyone is included in the thinking.
The monitor makes sure the chairperson is doing the job properly.
The recorder reminds the group to record their thinking or answers.

It was hard at the start, but when I took time to understand it I got it. It was easy we were finding the angles of shapes such as triangles.
