A visit to our Cathedral

Last Thursday, we all went on our first class trip to Southwark Cathedral.

This half term, we are thinking about ‘What makes a place special?’ and we know that the Cathedral is one of our special places for school and for Christians.

Alex, our leader, took us around to different places in the Cathedral. We saw her favourite part of the Cathedral which is the big stained-glass window of Jesus welcoming us in. She also showed us the font, where baby ‘Ella’ was baptised. After we walked and looked at the pulpit and then we went to the choir stands, where we were the choir, singing ‘It’s a Wonderful World’!

Next we walked down to the oldest part of the Cathedral which is about 800 years old! There we learnt about what goes on an Altar, and why we share bread and wine in the Cathedral. Next, Alex lit a candle for our visit.

We all had a wonderful time, and Alex was very complimentary about our behaviour and our listening. We had a wonderful time and can’t wait for our next trip!
