Spring 1, Week 4: A visit to Southwark Cathedral

Stars of the week: Lucia-Jane and Ava
Well done to Ava and Lucia-Jane who on our trip were enthusiastic learners! They were able to answer lots of questions and enjoyed exploring all the different parts of the Cathedral.

This week we visited Southwark Cathedral to explore the different parts of the Cathedral. Rosemary and David were our guides and they showed us around the parts of the Cathedral, like the font, the pulpit and the special seats where the Bishop sits. We also spotted Hodge the Cathedral Cat! We looked at the stained glass windows and enjoyed spotting different things in the windows.

After our Cathedral tour, we participated in a candle workshop. We made our own candles from beeswax and then made a clay candle handle. We all enjoyed making the candles and once the clay is dried, we will be bringing them home.
Here are pictures of our visit.

Next week: In Phonics we will learn the sounds ur ow oi ear. In literacy we will be exploring the tale of ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ and exploring pattern in Maths. We will be painting our candle holders and enjoy developing our gymnastics skill in PE.
