Science Week

This week, Reception have been enjoying lots of activities for Science Week. On Tuesday, we had a very funny assembly from Professor Whizz Kid. He taught us all about air and how we breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide. Here are some photos:

In the classroom, we have been investigating objects that float and sink in the water tray. We put celery into water with food colouring in and watched it change colour. We also looked at materials and their properties when we made 3D shapes in Maths. The children had the choice of either spaghetti, straws or lolly sticks to build models with and chose either marshmallows or Playdough to stick them together. The children worked as a team in their groups and all concluded that lolly sticks and play dough were the strongest materials for their models. Here are some pictures:

We have been also been hunting for Minibeasts in the outdoor area and the children have been helping Sara with some gardening and planting in the flower beds. It’s been a very busy week!
