Miss Dace was on national TV when she and her orchestra were on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent. You can see Miss Dace with her cello. We are very impressed.

Well done Miss Dace!

Congratulations to the Basketball team who came 1st in a Southwark 3v3 Basketball competition today. The competition was strong and we are very proud of our team, not only in their success at winning but also of their sportsmanship and teamwork.  The team will now represent Southwark at the London Youth Games in Crystal Palace in June!  Well done everyone!

The Easter Service was a very professional and energetic event today, led so well by Year 4.

They told the Easter story with talent and confidence. The photographs are below.

Playtimes are exciting at Cathedral School, with lots of things to do. Here are some recent pictures of KS1 playtime.

Today the children and staff at Cathedral School dressed up as their favourite book characters and authors. The effort and creativity that went into the costumes was incredible.

At Cathedral School we feel that one of the best things about World Book Day is discovering new authors and remembering forgotten favourites A very exciting part of the day was the ‘Choose a story session’. Children were able to choose a story from a selection before finding out which teacher would read it to them.

Shrove Tuesday is a day of celebration as well as penitence, because it’s the last day before Lent. Throughout the United Kingdom, and in other countries too, people indulge themselves on foods that traditionally aren’t allowed during Lent. Pancakes are eaten on this day because they contain fat, butter and eggs which were forbidden during Lent.

During our assembly, Miss Dace reminded us about the origins of Shrove Tuesday and we discussed things we could give up or start doing while Sara cooked a pancake from scratch, with the help of pupils.

The pancake was flipped in front of the whole school and lucky Miss St. Lewis ate it with lemon and sugar.

Breakfast club is now open for business!
We have a warm breakfast on offer every day provided by Henrietta, the school cook, and options of fruit and cereal. Fruit juice, milk and water are also provided.

There are games and other activities for all ages before and after the meal, and Kim and Sue (both school’s Learning Support Assistants) are on hand to make sure everyone is busy.

It opens from 7.45am and the last entry is 8.15am. At 8.45am, when the bell goes, children from Breakfast Club go directly to their classroom through the corridor.

It costs £3 each day and you can book via the office.

Well done to the children who attended school every day last term and received an attendance certificate!

This week has been filled with fun and festivities, and has been a lovely end to a busy term.

The EYFS Nativity was a wonderful, professional show with Reception and Nursery in fine voice and energetic form. Thanks to the EYFS staff for organising and directing this, which is in its second year; it is a very welcome addition to the school calendar.

Many thanks to the parents for then staying on after the Nativity for the EYFS Stay and Play – there are photos on the Nursery and Reception blogs.

Wednesday was also the school’s Christmas Lunch, I know the kitchen staff start much earlier than usual in the morning to get everything ready. Everyone looked very much in the festive spirit in their Christmas jumpers.

On Thursday, it was the Cathedral School Parents’ Forum Christmas Fair, which had an amazing variety of stalls, prizes and produce this year. A huge amount of effort from parents went into this as well as goodwill from the local community who donated prizes. Thank you to everyone who made it a success.

And the Christmas parties at the end of the week were the icing on the cake.
