Class 2 are reading the book The Tiny Seed written by Eric Carle.
They are studying the structure of the story, including the way it starts and ends in Autumn and the way the story progresses through the different seasons.
They are learning how the settings are described by the author, like when he uses short sentences to give the writing more impact, for example: It is Autumn. A strong wind blew.
They will be writing their own 500-word story based on the Tiny Seed to be entered into a story writing competition.

The story also helps us to learn more in our science unit as well. As it teaches us about plant life cycles and seasonal changes.
