Summer 2- Week 6

Stars of the Week- Nathan I and Orla

We have had an exciting time in Class 2 this week, with the Stomp dance workshop and the Summer Fair happening, as well as lots of wonderful learning opportunities. It was great to see all the children getting involved with the dance and demonstrating their teamwork skills when asked to choreograph some of their own dance moves. Everyone enjoyed the summer fair and cheered each other on in the games. The children have also enjoyed demonstrating their knowledge of plants and computing, when completing a Science quiz about plants on the ipads this week. Well done Class 2

Please enjoy these photos of us during our dance workshop and the summer fair.

What a wonderful time we have had celebrating Sports Week! As well as competing in Kick Ball and Sports Day events, we have also been thinking about sport in Maths and English. In Maths we created a tally chart and pictogram to represent Class 2’s favourite sports, and in English we read about how other schools celebrate sports day and came up with some ideas of how we could make our own sports day successful. The children came up with great ideas such as- listening to instructions, following the rules, trying their best, cheering their team on and demonstrating good sportsmanship. Enjoy the photos of us celebrating this special week below.

This week in PE we recapped the rules for Kick Ball and got very competitive in our class game! The children were supporting each other to explain the rules, and cheering each other on in such a lovely way. We are all excited for the real game next week. In Maths we have been working on graphs, tables and charts, and learning how to record the data of information such as Class 2’s favourite animals. We had to remember how to draw and interpret a tally chart and count up the totals accurately, remembering to count up in fives and ones.

Spring 2- Week 6

Stars of the Week: Ted and Freddie

Class 2 have had a special week with several exciting events. On Tuesday they were lucky enough to have a visit from the author Ross Montgomery as well as a workshop at the Cathedral to learn about how the Cathedral changes at Easter time. Both of these occasions were inspirational and engaging and it was wonderful to see the learning that was taking place, as well as the children displaying their prior knowledge. They had interesting questions to ask Ross Montgomery, such as “Why did you want to be an author?” and “What inspired you to write ten delicious teachers?” At the Cathedral the children learnt about why certain images and items were covered in purple cloth, and about the changes of colour in vestments throughout the church year. We also got to see the beautiful pascal candle which will be lit on Easter Sunday, and enjoyed an Easter craft activity too.

Please enjoy some of the photos from our visit and trip this week.

Well done Class 2 for being such enthusiastic learners. Have a wonderful Easter break!

We have had so much fun during Bikeability this week, learning lots of new skills and tips on how to stay safe on our bikes. Please enjoy some photos below.

Last week we designed positive pebbles. We each chose one of the fruits of friendship and designed our pebbles around that theme with a message of what Jesus and the fruits of friendship mean to us at Easter. We hope that they will bring a smile to whoever finds them.

Spring 2- Week 2

Stars of the Week: Annabelle and Reggie

We have enjoyed a varied week in Class 2. We spent some time practicing making food chains in a great game on the laptops during our Science lesson. Ask us to name an example of a producer and a consumer!

In PE we have been working on our racket skills and had to balance a tennis ball on a racket while moving around. It was tricky but we are definitely improving.

We also had a visit from the London Fire Brigade who taught us many important lessons about how to stay safe in a fire. We are going to remind our grown ups to check their smoke alarms once a month and ask them about creating a fire plan for our homes.
