We had a fantastic day visiting Tate Modern. We walked all the way along the Thames to the exhibition, making the most of our fascinating surroundings and sharing knowledge of the area.
We were astounded to find out that Tate (which holds art dating back to 1500) has around 4.7 million visitors each year.
We have lots of knowledge on portraits, having spent last half term studying this. There were lots of portraits by Pablo Picasso. ‘Weeping Woman’ which is an oil painting on canvas was very interesting. We were able to see closely how Picasso had used colours and expression to create a sad effect.
Walking around Tate gave us many ideas to help create a collage for this term – it was fascinating to see all the different colours, shapes and materials used to create the artworks. There was even an interactive screen where we could draw and publish our work to visitors of Tate. David had his face drawn by an artist! An exciting day had by all.
I hope you enjoyed it, I wanted to go to Tate with my class.
