We were very lucky to have a visit from Father Michael this week to discuss writing reflections and prayers for our Candlemas service. The theme of the service is light. We were inspired by passages from the Bible that refers to Jesus as being like a light. The reading is taken from Luke Chapter 2 verses 22 to 36.
We discussed the theme of light and how this effects our lives everyday.
We are very excited about our service at Southwark Cathedral and look forward to sharing our reflections and prayers with you.

It was fun to hear where Father Michael came from and what he did before for his job!
It was fun to see Father Michael and ask him questions like, ‘Why did you want to come to Southwark Cathedral?’

I can’t wait for our service and Father Michael really helped us to get ideas for our Candlemas reflections and prayers. So I thank Father Michael for helping me and my class with our prayers and reflections because it was quite hard to think about things to write on our prayers and reflections!Father Michael also told us the story of Simeon which really helped me and my class for ideas. I can’t wait for our service because I think it will be fun, and I also am nervous but with Father Michael’s help I feel more confident than before because his help has encouraged me to be confident!

The whole class did so well this morning at the Cathedral: they all spoke really clearly and had obviously put a lot of thought into their reflections and prayers. Very proud!!
Candlemas was so exiting and a pleasure to be in!
Our service on candelmas was very good. We all knew our lines off by heart and we all really concentrated and smiled as we walked off.
I thought it was very exciting to have a visit from Father Michael!
Wow! I loved it when father Michael came in to our class and talked to us about himself and we asked him questions. Then we got to know him. He taught us a lot about Jesus and Christianity.
