Victorian Silhouette Picture Frames – Arts Week

Well done Class 3 on working hard during Arts Week 2015. Class 3 dressed up as Victorian characters and had their profile picture taken. The picture was then cut out on black paper to create a Victorian silhouette. The children then designed William Morris picture frames, focusing on including nature repeated patterns around the frame.

Final images of the Victorian Silhouette picture frames to follow soon!

What a wonderful thing to teach children about the English Arts and Crafts movement. Perhaps  a visit to the William Morris gallery and his former home in Walthamstow? There is also the tasteful art deco townhall just down the road!

On the display in the hall and the classroom I think that the silhouettes in the frames look fantastic!

I had a lot of fun making Victorian picture frames, the best part was practicing our patterns because we saw lots of different patterns.
