The Correct Technique for Sprinting

In our recent P.E. lesson we learnt the correct technique for sprinting efficiently.

We learnt that it’s important to keep a 90* bend in your arms and to drive them forwards across your chest.

We also learnt that it’s important to tuck your chin down but keep your eyes looking upwards towards the horizon.

Next, we learnt that it’s important to drive your knees upwards, and to try and close the gap by raising your heels towards your glute muscles.

The final thing we learnt was that it’s important to lean forward and make the movement as dynamic as possible.

We applied these techniques to a relay race situation and practiced positioning our hands on the relay baton, as well as thinking about how best to transfer the baton to a partner.

What do you know about sprinting, and what are your recollections of the lesson?

    My review: today was really awesome, actually it was beyond wicked because of the 3 following reasons 1: I learned that we had to keep our arms at a 90* turn to push ourselves to the limit;
    2 I also learned that when you are sprinting you must always keep your knees high and keep your feet up high so it nearly hits your back; 3: the most important lesson is that you must always keep your chin up so you don’t fall over and when you are feeling really tired you put your hands in the air so you can let in as much oxygen in as possible. The last thing is that Usain Bolt and mo farah eat right and train everyday so make sure you do that too.

    KEEP CALM AND KEEP FIT

    My Review:
    Today I am going to write an honest review about my astonishing P.E lesson, so sit tight as you are going to read my 3 important steps to become a champion just like Usain Bolt and mo farah so lets get to it!
    Step 1: you must always keep your arms at 90* and to always to keep your chin up and to always push forward to your full potential.
    Step 2: when running always keep your knees high, and if your having trouble – do what I do, put your hand on top and make sure your knees hit your hands. When you’ve got the hang of hit, well you are one step closer to becoming a champion.
    Step 3: when you are really tired drink some water, but do you know what’s better? Keep your hand up above your head or on your head and breathe so you get lots of oxygen, because if you bend down it’s not helping improve your fitness.

    So in the future Keep Calm And Keep Fit – especially you members of staff!

    We got changed for PE then we went outside with our partner. We put the same coloured cone either side of the playground. Then Class 5 did some warm ups by spiriting to their cone and back and then they took some steps on how to sprint with potential. Then two teachers called Miss Scade and Miss Hayfield came to watch how Class 5 do PE outside. They took some notes and asked some children in Class 5 what they were learning and how they can improve their sprinting.

    One child said ‘ I am learning how to sprint really fast and I learnt that you need to have 90 degrees in your arms when sprinting. Class 5 were amazing with their listening skills and trying their best. Another child told me ‘ We have coloured cones. Red is for stop, green is for jog lightly and yellow, well what we call gold, is to sprint.

    Class 5 also played a game with their partners. One person was running and the other person was trying to catch the person running. That lesson was really fun and by the end everyone was exhausted which was good!

    My review: That day was awesome here are the reasons:
    1. I lean’t how to put my chin down – that’s a skill;
    2. I also learnt how to put my knee up high to sprint fast; and
    3. Mr Antcliffe taught us how to put our knees up, put our chins down and also put our legs up.

    Hello my name is Shakirah and Im going to tell you about my day when I did PE.

    The first thing we did after lunch we had to read a book. Then Mr Antcliffe called table by table to go and get their PE kit. We had to get changed as quickly as we can because Ms Hayfield and Ms Scade wanted to see what we do in Outdoor PE. We went outside and we first did a running race…

    My recount
    First we got changed for P.E; then we went outside and joined our partners. We then played some games. The first game we played was a warm up. There was a green, gold and red cone. Then after that game we started doing sprinting races against other people. While one person goes, that person’s partner would time us. We played it for a long time then that was it; we then jogged to cool down and went in.

    Wednesday was really cool, first we did a race then a game to see if we could get our partner – mine was Leon, and for the first two, Leon didn’t get me and on the last time he got me. And while doing this Mr Antcliffe  was telling us how to get faster by putting down our chin. When we started we checked our pulse. We also did it at the end and in the middle. I would love to do it again. 🙂 😛 B-P

    I practiced my long jump skills in a sandpit in a park as well as my standing long jump. I practiced my sprinting skills while I was in a race and that really worked because I came second.
