Autumn 1, Week 3

Stars of the Week: Leon and Nyra

These stars were selected for always doing incredible tidying up at tidy up time. This week has been important for learning how important it is to keep our classroom tidy. These two children have set an excellent example of how to tidy up!

This week we have begun our formal phonics lessons. This week we have learned s, a and t.

Remember, when discussing these sounds at home it’s sss (like a hissing snake) not ‘suh’, a (a-a-a apple) not ay, and t (a quick click of the tongue) not ‘tuh’. Here is the link shown at the curriculum evening to help explain our Phonics learning: https://www.littlewandlelettersandsounds.org.uk/resources/for-parents/

Next week we will learn a different sound each day: p, i, n, m, d

In Mathematics we are continuing with 2D shape recognition and with 1:1 correspondence with counting.

To help at home, continue to notice shapes in the every day environment (road signs, windows, plates etc) and to count things around you like buttons and stairs.

Please see the photos below to see the children engaging with their learning environment this week:
