Act of Memory

Over the last few weeks we have been taking part in an Act of Memory. This is a project led my Monica Ross. She set up the project to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. At first we were quite nervous about the project, especially when we found out that it meant we have to memorise the entire Universal Declaration of Human Rights! Luckily, Monica explained to us that we would need to learn an article each (although some of us chose to do two or three!). Monica gave us some tips on learning it, the most useful was to write our section out from memory and then go back and mark it – a bit like our spellings ‘look, cover, write, check’.
Last Tuesday was the big day! We went to Southwark Cathedral to perform ‘An Act of Memory’. Lots of our parents came to watch us and we also had a few members of the public.

We did such a great job! Our parents, Miss Deacon and Timi were very proud of us.
Here we are getting read to perform!
