Autumn 1, Week 6

Stars of the Week: Daniel and Rayelle

These children have been selected as stars this week because they have both demonstrated the ability to be honest about their mistakes and to always say sorry in a meaningful way. Everyone makes mistakes, it’s important to be able to take accountability and apologise. Well done to Daniel and Rayelle!

This week in Phonics, children have learned the letters ck, e, u and r.

Next week we will learn h, b, f and l.

On Friday, we will send children home some information on all of the sounds they will have learned this half term for you to look at at home. You can practice recognition or letter formation over the half term.

In Mathematics, children have been comparing amounts. You can support this learning at home by using the vocabulary: more than, less than, greater than, fewer than and equal to.

Next week we will be looking at creating patterns, beginning with a simple ABAB pattern.

In Literacy, we will read ‘Which Food Will You Choose?’ by Claire Potter. We’ll use this text to think about initial sounds and we’ll record the sounds that we can hear.
