This week in Phonics we’ve learnt z, qu, ch and adding s for plurals.
Next week, we’ll learn sh, th, ng and nk.
When two letters make one sound, we call this a digraph.
In Mathematics we have continued looking at one and one less, but we’ve been looking at early addition and subtraction by writing the corresponding sums. For example 6+1=7 and 10-1=9.
Next week, we will look solely at addition within 10.
Next week is Assessment Week! Every child will complete individual assessments in phonics, mathematics and writing. For this reason, we will not be doing our usual worksheets or reading groups. If you don’t see comments in the reading diaries, it’ll be for this reason.
